Finding Your Ideal Pedigree Dog Breed

Finding the ideal breed of dog for you and your family can seem a daunting task, with over 200 pedigree breeds currently recognised by the UK Kennel Club weighing up the pros and cons of each against your own requirements can be difficult and time consuming.

In this part of our site we'll attempt to help you narrow down your search to those dogs that are suitable to your individual situation and also provide some information about the pros and cons of each breed to help you in your search.

Once you have a shortlist of breeds we'd encourage you to contact breeders listed on our site to discuss the breed, our breeders have a great deal of experience with their respective breeds and there's no-one better qualified to help you make your decision. There are three options to help you in your search :

This is a search function that allows you to choose the features of your ideal breed, such as 'size' or 'grooming requirement' and then creates a list of all the breeds that match your criteria. Results will be presented as a list and by clicking on the 'More about this breed' link next to each listing you'll be taken to a further page with more detailed information on that breed. Browse All Kennel Club Breeds
 
This offers a complete listing of all breeds currently recognised by the UK Kennel club. In the initial listings page you'll see the major points such as 'size' and 'exercise requirements' listed and by clicking on the 'More about this breed' link next to each listing you'll be taken to a further page with more detailed information on that breed. Individual Breed Description
